Roller Coaster Tayto Park
This year’s big addition to Tayto Park – only five minutes from Duffys of Ballybin self-catering accommodation – is the Cú Chulainn roller coaster.
The Cú Chulainn is 32 metres tall and 1,000 metres in length and lasts for around two minutes. It’s in the top 10 in Europe, in terms of speed and height. More than 800,000 kilos of yellow pine was imported from South America to make the frame of the rollercoaster, and 100 tonnes of steel and 700,000 nails and bolts were used.
Tayto Park has also added seven other amusement rides — all with suitably daunting names, such as ‘Sky Tower’, ‘Rotator’ and ‘Air Race’.
